Flexera
Flexera Cloud Portfolio Management accelerates application delivery, gives you control over cloud usage and spend, and ensures application SLAs. Cloud computing presents a new set of challenges as well as cloud solutions for IT. RightScale helps you best manage, govern, and optimize your cloud infrastructure and application portfolio.

CloudCheckr and Flexera are both incredibly clever pieces of software designed to prevent IT departments from flinging themselves off tall buildings in despair over cloud costs. They both specialize in making sure companies don’t accidentally spend their entire annual budget on a single afternoon of poorly optimized cloud usage. Multi-cloud support? Check. Security and compliance? Naturally. Governance and automation? Of course, because nothing says "peace of mind" like a dashboard warning you of impending financial doom in multiple colors.

CloudCheckr, born in 2011 in the United States (as all dramatic cloud-related things seem to be), is rather fond of MSPs—those mysterious wizards who optimize cloud costs for other people. It has an uncanny ability to sniff out billing anomalies, like a particularly nosy detective for finance departments. Now part of Spot by NetApp, it has fully embraced the world of FinOps, which is a bit like regular finance but with more existential dread about compute instances.

Flexera, on the other hand, has been around since 1987, which means it once coexisted with floppy disks and mullets before evolving into the software asset management guru it is today. Unlike CloudCheckr, it isn’t just about the cloud—it wants to keep an eye on everything, from on-premises servers to the unspeakable horrors of legacy IT. Large enterprises love it because it provides deep insights into software licensing, helping them avoid the kind of legal trouble that makes accountants break out in cold sweats. It’s basically the responsible older sibling of cloud cost management—less flashy, but very, very necessary.
