Concur
SAP Concur's easy-to-use business travel and expense management software solution helps your business save time, money and gain control. The Concur booking tool makes business travel a snap—starting with customized options that align with your company policies. You can also upload electronic folios, directly to expense reports. Concur provides full visibility into spend and the ability to ensure policy and regulatory compliance.

Rydoo
Rydoo is an all-in-one Travel & Expense platform. Book business trips and submit or approve expense claims in real time.

Expense management software, much like intergalactic travel, is an inevitability for anyone doing business across multiple dimensions—or at least multiple countries. Concur and Rydoo both exist to make the tedious act of tracking receipts slightly less soul-crushing. They let users snap pictures of crumpled expense reports, automatically extract data with something vaguely resembling artificial intelligence and integrate with other systems that accountants pretend to enjoy. They also handle multiple currencies, which is particularly useful for those who like their business trips to involve unexpected detours and mysterious service charges from hotels that definitely weren’t haunted.

Concur, being the grand old space whale of the industry, has been lumbering through the cosmos since 1993, initially launched in the United States before being absorbed by the SAP mothership. It is powerful, feature-rich and brimming with security measures that make it ideal for enormous intergalactic conglomerates that lose more in petty cash each year than small planets earn in a lifetime. It even comes with its own travel booking system, which—much like a Vogon bureaucracy—offers a wealth of options but requires patience to navigate. Flexibility is one of its many selling points, assuming you have the resources to configure it, which is why large corporations adore it and small businesses look at it the way one might look at a menu written entirely in ancient Sumerian.

Rydoo, on the other hand, is the scrappy hitchhiker, emerging in 2018 from the unlikely merger of Xpenditure and iAlbatros, which presumably bonded over their mutual enthusiasm for ridding the universe of paper receipts. Born in Belgium, it is fast, intuitive and perfect for small to mid-sized businesses that would rather spend time making money than configuring software. It skips the built-in travel booking nonsense and focuses on real-time expense tracking, ensuring that people get reimbursed before their enthusiasm for life withers away completely. It is simple, efficient and unlikely to cause an existential crisis—unless, of course, you are the sort of person who finds joy in complex approval workflows, in which case, may I introduce you to Concur?
