ForgeRock and Okta are two very clever, very sophisticated identity management platforms that both claim to be absolutely essential for keeping your digital existence from being hijacked by nefarious entities lurking in the great swirling chaos of the internet. They both let people sign in, sign out and generally prove they are who they claim to be, using an impressive array of cryptographic wizardry and multi-factor authentication hoops to jump through. Enterprises use them, governments trust them and hackers find them mildly annoying, which is generally a good sign.
ForgeRock, which began life in the scenic land of Norway before deciding it preferred the bustling tech scene of America, caters to organizations with intricate, mind-boggling security needs—think sprawling multinational corporations, financial institutions that don’t want their money vanishing mysteriously and governments that like to know who’s using their secret back doors.
