In the vast and unfathomably complex universe of marketing automation, HubSpot and Sendinblue share a surprising number of similarities. They both help you send emails, build landing pages and generally attempt to organize the chaos of customer interactions into something vaguely resembling order. They offer CRM functions, A/B testing, and, perhaps most miraculously of all, they both attempt to make you feel like you've got a handle on your business, even if you don't.

But when you venture off the beaten path, HubSpot reveals itself as the more grandiose creature in the marketing jungle. It’s designed for the medium-to-large business—those with grand ambitions and equally grand budgets. Born in the United States in 2006, it can integrate with a dizzying array of third-party tools, like Salesforce and Shopify and provides sophisticated reporting tools to help you analyze the existential crisis of your email campaign's open rates.

Sendinblue, on the other hand, is the scrappy French underdog. Launched in 2012, it prides itself on being the go-to platform for small-to-medium businesses with an eye for affordability. It does email marketing, of course, but it also throws in SMS for good measure, making it the marketer's Swiss Army knife. It's simpler, more affordable and while it doesn’t boast the same range of integrations, it certainly won’t leave you staring at your bank balance with the same level of existential dread as its more expensive counterpart.
