Insightly
Insightly is a great tool to help small businesses deal with the vital task of managing your contacts, organizations, partners, vendors and suppliers. Using CRM best practices, you can see everything about a contact - from background, email history and important dates, to any projects or opportunities in which they have participated

Nimble
Simple, Smart CRM for Office 365 and G Suite Teams. Turn Your Social Communities into Customers. Easily manage your contacts, calendars, communications, and social conversations with Nimble's social CRM.

Insightly and Nimble, at first glance, seem like two halves of the same perplexing whole, both masquerading as CRM systems designed to make life easier while secretly making you question why you ever had customers in the first place. They both promise seamless integrations with the apps you already use (which is a bit of an assumption), offer contact management tools that claim to "enhance relationships" (as if relationships were tamagotchis) and provide sales automation features that insist they will do all the thinking for you, except for the thinking they don’t do. They are both cloud-based, meaning they exist in a mystical realm where files go when you can’t find them on your hard drive and they both appear to be aimed at small-to-medium-sized businesses, a category so vague it includes everything from your cousin’s Etsy shop to a tech startup run by 23-year-olds who drink too much coffee.

Insightly, born in the USA in 2009, seems to have had an identity crisis early on and decided to be both a CRM and a project management tool, because clearly, one wasn't complicated enough. It boasts a more serious attitude towards analytics and reporting, the kind that makes you feel like you should be wearing a suit while looking at bar charts. It also prides itself on integrating with larger, enterprise-level tools, so if your idea of fun is syncing an ERP system with a sales dashboard, you’re in luck. Its real strength, however, lies in helping B2B companies organize their many, many spreadsheets of contacts while pretending they’re not just slightly fancier spreadsheets.

Nimble, also born in 2009 in the USA, took one look at Insightly’s buttoned-up approach and said, “Nah, let’s make this social.” It leans heavily into automatically pulling contact details from social media, so you can pretend you’ve been diligently keeping up with your clients instead of letting an algorithm do the work. It’s lighter, friendlier and designed for people who prefer chatting on Twitter to filling out CRM fields manually. If you work in a business that thrives on personal relationships—like networking gurus, consultants or anyone whose job title contains the word “evangelist”—Nimble will make you feel like a well-connected genius. Also, it plays particularly well with Microsoft 365, because someone has to.
