Wunderlist
Wunderlist is the easiest way to manage and share your to-do lists. Whether you’re planning an overseas adventure, sharing a shopping list with a loved one or running your very own business, Wunderlist is here to help you achieve great things.
Nozbe and Wunderlist, at first glance, seem to be two digital taskmasters doing the same thing—helping people remember to do stuff. They both let you create tasks, set reminders and share lists with unsuspecting colleagues who might have otherwise gotten away with doing nothing. They work across various devices, whispering gently (or annoyingly) that you still haven’t done that thing you swore you’d do yesterday. They float in the cloud, ensuring that no matter where you go, your responsibilities follow you like an overly loyal pet.

Nozbe, born in Poland in 2007, is the more serious of the two, appealing to professionals and teams who enjoy structuring their chaos with a bit of GTD philosophy. It thrives on projects, dependencies and a general sense of managerial superiority. If you’re the kind of person who color-codes your socks, Nozbe will fit you like a neatly labeled spreadsheet. Of course, it’s not free, because organizing things properly apparently requires a financial commitment.

Wunderlist, on the other hand, was born in Germany in 2011 and was designed for people who just wanted to write down their shopping lists without feeling like they were planning a corporate takeover. It kept things simple, with folders instead of projects, a friendly interface and an easygoing attitude—until Microsoft came along, acquired it in 2015 and unceremoniously turned it into Microsoft To Do. The universe, as Douglas Adams might have noted, is full of things that once existed, but no longer do, leaving behind only nostalgia and half-finished grocery lists.
