Zoho
Zoho is an alternative Web-based online office and business app suite containing word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, databases, note-taking, wikis, customer relationship management (CRM), project management, invoicing and other applications. Zoho helps you get more sales, get paid, support your customers and make your business more productive.

iWork
iWork has always been the best way to be productive on the Mac. And iWork for iOS made it easy to create beautiful documents on iPad and iPhone. With iWork for iCloud we’re bringing Pages, Numbers, and Keynote to the web — on Mac and PC. And thanks to iCloud, your work is always up to date on all your devices. It’s easy to work with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files. iWork alternative for PC is Office 365.

Zoho and iWork, at first glance, appear to be two perfectly sensible collections of office productivity software. They both let you write documents, calculate things on spreadsheets (mostly to prove you still remember how spreadsheets work) and make presentations that nobody will ever pay attention to. They also allow multiple people to edit the same document simultaneously, which, in theory, should improve collaboration but in practice mostly results in passive-aggressive comment wars. Files can be exported into formats the other software pretends not to understand and everything is available online, meaning you can now fail to meet deadlines from anywhere in the world.

Zoho, despite sounding like the name of an ancient wizard or a particularly trendy nightclub, is actually a product of India, launched in 2005 with the ambitious goal of organizing the chaotic world of business. It offers an entire ecosystem of applications, including CRM tools, project management software and email services, ensuring that absolutely no aspect of your work remains free from productivity software. Unlike iWork, it does not require allegiance to any particular brand of shiny aluminum gadgets, making it a more inclusive choice for those who don’t want their word processor to double as a lifestyle statement.

iWork, on the other hand, is Apple’s answer to productivity, which is to say it’s designed to look beautiful while quietly ignoring the fact that most businesses are still stuck using Microsoft Office. Also released in 2005, it is deeply embedded in the Apple ecosystem, making it the software equivalent of that friend who only ever talks about how great their iPhone is. It’s free for anyone who owns an Apple device, which sounds generous until you realize you’ve already paid a small fortune for said device. Unlike Zoho, iWork focuses on elegance over enterprise features, ensuring that at least your passive-aggressive comment wars will look stunning.
